LJIdol Prompt: Soup's On!

Previous to three years ago, there basically weren’t mosquitoes in Southern California. On hot summer days, we’d enjoy the pleasant coolness of the evening by eating dinner outside. If it got a little chilly (which it did often enough, this is arid California after all,) my husband would whine a bit about the cold and I would admonish him, “Just ( Read more... )

I love that you've adopted the Australian slang, mozzies. Boy do I miss some of my old slang like that! What horrible versions of the creatures you have there though. We don't get them up in the Bay Area, but I have had other horrid flying insects try to make homes in my house (thankfully not the eating-human types). I had to get a zapper that looks like an electric tennis racquet to deal with them when they were at their worst in 2020. Fortunately they haven't been as bad since then, and I've instead used the zapper more on larger blow flies a couple of times.

We've had a rather cold summer up here in the Frozen Northlands, and our "mozzie" population is decreased. But I'm sure it will pop right back up again the next time we have a hot, muggy summer.

We used Skin so Soft in Africa. It smells so much better than regular repellent.

So sorry you're dealing with these bugs. Sounds horrible. Kind of like what we call "No see ums"?

I love your sense of humor!

Love Skin So Soft too. Luckily our screens seem to be fine enough to keep the mozzies out. However, they do get in when I leave the side door open. Be glad you don't live in Minnesota. The mozzies there are the size of small aircraft. ;)
