delurking in my own journal (falling, unexpectedly, into fannish space again)

Apr 12, 2010 20:54

I'm sitting in a "chalet"-themed hotel in middle America, devouring the free chocolate-covered strawberries and Perrier randomly delivered to me by the hotel staff, avoiding organizing my presentation notes for tomorrow's conference by flicking through image after internet image of...Johnny Weir ( Read more... )

it's funny. I've been going over a couple of similar thoughts lately. How I haven't had a proper "fandom" in a while. I took parts of bandom that I love and I made it my own, but I was never...hook line and sinker into any one of them or reading and getting everything I could on them. i haven't been like that in years actually.

and then, yeah, exactly, i spent most of february loving the olympics hard, and i feel like, since it ended i somehow love it even more? i went from needing to know every detail about Apolo to needing details about the entire short track team, and now johnny and evan and everyone, pretty much. evan is the one i'm having the hardest time accepting my love for. he's just so awkwardly charming.

but johnny is easy. i can't resist him.

<3 <3 <3 i'm excited to see him with you guys soon

I took parts of bandom that I love and I made it my own...

Yes! You worded that far better than I did. This was also my experience with bandom. I found, unexpectedly, that some part of me came alive at shows in a way I never expected, and the shows have become so important to me. (As have the people I've met at shows! <3 )

Sigh...yes, Evan is...so awkward. *facepalm*

But I could watch Stephane skate with Johnny every day and not get tired of it. And, yes, I am VERY excited for the Chelsea Piers show, and starting to wonder if I should have tried to get a ticket for the reception, too...

exactly. it was about a few shows and the friends there more then a lot of the actual bands. and even then, there was SO many of them lol.

oh god. and now i'm watching dancing with the stars for his awkwardness. it's a lost cause.

Stephane, oh man, i've only recently discovered how ADORABLE he is. I love him. and yeah, I'm totally wishing I had got the reception tickets, there was just no way I could afford it. Though, I hear a lot of stories of people meeting him after events, so, maybe?

*FLAILS*

UM. YES. YES THIS IS ME RIGHT NOW, TOO. I'm just excited that more people on my flist are in the same boat.

Johnny! I am so in love with him! And yeah, my last couple of blogs have been about this because I am so obsessed. I love the feeling of a new fandom. I can't stop thinking about Johnny and Evan and Lambiel and smiling like a goof and wanting to read fic and write fic and . . . yeah. *happy sigh*

Skatedom is an oldie moldie in fannish terms. MediaWest has been hosting skating panels right along with all of it's other panels every year since before I started attending 19 years ago. I think you should find lots of friends in your new shiny. :)

Well, I'm sure Johnny is more than happy to blow kisses at Frank.

I don't think I mentioned how happy I was to learn that Johnny trains in Wayne, New Jersey! ;)

Two thoughts on that video:

1 -- Is he allowed to have not-so-gratifying sex? I could lay him good, he'd enjoy it at least as much as the foot massager (hell, he could bring the foot massager), and he could tell Galina with a straight face that he hadn't touched any boys.

2 -- OMG HE HAS A FRENCH PEDICURE. He just makes me squeal.

His French pedicure surprised me because, in my mind, all figure skaters had busted-up looking feet...after all, their feet are one of their main tools and get put through a lot.

Johnny's feet are, naturally, gorgeous.

Wow, I *just* noticed the Cheburashka sticker on the vibrator...um, massager. I <3 you, Russian fans!
