I work (very) part time as a supervisor at a clinic; I'm officially there Wednesday nights and I have been going for 45minutes on Thursdays for the Summer to help supervise a new clinician. I borrow the office of a Psychologist who has filled the office with many homey touches: a fabric mural, pictures of family and friends, plants, and a shelf

I think writing the note would be a kindness; whether or not she's nutso, it'll at least let her stop expecting it to return and getting upset with every passing moment it doesn't.

Sorry for the late response but fwiw I agree with es. It would be a kindness. Except I wouldn't add the "nobody took her maliciously" bit. That feels like unnecessary editorializing, and besides, you DON'T know that, someone may have thrown her in the trash maliciously. I've known a lot of people who are weird about "occult" images, even relatively innocent ones, and who, Jackie Florrick-style, will just up and throw them away.
