how does one truly love themself?

i mean is it something you just decide to do?

or do you have to reach your idea of perfection?

and what if your idea of perfection isn't obtainable?

do you just settle with what you got?

maybe i'm going about this all wrong...

what is your opinion?

perfection is bullshit bellastrega September 23 2005, 15:11:33 UTC
loving yourself is impossible if you're being too hard on yourself. if you could step back and be your own mommy, wouldn't you forgive your mistakes?
that's what loving yourself is about. doing your best and feeling proud of it, and being ok with yourself when you're less than perfect.

Loving yourself involves accepting your flaws, not trying to correct them. It's not really "settling" for less, instead it's working with what you have.

That's why many times it takes someone loving you in order to love yourself, that person helps you accept your flaws by accepting them themself.

At least, this is my interpretation.
