((OOC: Jumping ahead a bit in his canon to RotS. Couldn't help it. He'll crackily revert back to some random time in the middle of the Clone Wars after this!))
NO. I wouldn’t. Tell that to Obi-Wan and the Council!
They want me to spy on the Chancellor. They don’t trust him; they believe kriffing Count Dooku when he says that the Chancellor’s being influenced by the Sith Lord. Can’t they see Dooku’s just trying to turn the Jedi and the Republic against each other? It’s so obvious.
Force forbid the Council should allow my appointment based on merit. My grand achievements in battle. My exemplary service to the Order and to the Republic. Oh no, Anakin can be on the Council as long as we can use him for off-the-record acts of treason.
I’m supposed to meet with Chancellor Palpatine and encourage him to confide in me, only to turn around and tell the Council so Mace Kriffing Windu can monitor his every move, infer sinister motives from harmless dealings. And what will they do with all this evidence I gather for them? Use it to impeach him. Our strong leader, removed from the helm, and replaced by whom? Perhaps the very government official who is acting under the influence of the Sith Lord. Did they ever think of that?
Back to the subject at hand… no, I can’t and won’t betray the Chancellor’s trust that way. He’s looked out for me ever since I came to Coruscant; he’s like a father to me. Just as I wouldn’t betray Obi-Wan if the Chancellor asked me to…but he would never ask that of me, would he!
I want nothing to do with this treachery. Leave the spying to the Null ARCs.
