Updating from study hall, this is becoming a habbit!

Feb 11, 2003 14:19

I think a lot of my fellow students are taking a secret course in Aerodynamics, because as soon as the teacher left the room, they started tossing paper airplanes around. And we all know that in study hall, whether the teacher is there or not, we MATURE students study, study, study.

Sunday, my folks, those wonderful people, returned the favor ( Read more... )

I'm sure between all of us we can find a way to get that flag. I'm seeing a lot of foil-wrapped candies in store windows lately; what if we packed one into a snowball? No, no, must find legitimate way of winning...

Learning an instrument is a pain sometimes, but it's worth it. It really is. I just hope eventually I can learn to do the quara justice and not sound like a three year old playing it. The fingerings are pretty intuitive, it's just getting it to sound right that's the hard part.

Is exploiting the weakness of your "enemy" unfair?

I think you're doing better with your quara then I'm doing with the violin sometimes. You know, when you miss a note on a voilin, it just sounds godawful. I'm surprised I haven't been evacuated yet.

I suppose not...

Well, I've got an advantage 'cause I've played another woodwind instrument before. You seem to be catching on to what you're doing with the violin pretty quickly, actually.

Then when I pick up the candy sticks for the popcorn balls today, I'll pick up some Hersey's Kisses!

You really think I'm catching on? *blush* I still worry that I'm causing people hives when I play. My teacher seems pleased with my progress, but he does like to tell me I should have started playing when I was much younger.

I know you'd probably completely disagree with me Beej, but training shouldn't be about fun and games. With the constant rate that this planet is coming under attack, we should be taking our training seriously. Having 2 Saiyajins who can go to SSJ4 isn't enough to save us from everything. And I think people not taking their training seriously made them reevaluate their positions the last time we went to war. Big surprise when they find out that killing is not fun and games. I think Vegeta is practical about training. He knows what it is and what it isn't. But to each his own I suppose.

I'm going to have to disagree with you, Vez, at least in part. I agree that a lot of people freaked out on that mission, and I also agree that we need to keep training and getting better. But I-I also think that in at least some cases, dwelling on what we're doing will do more harm than good. If I can wake up in the morning and go train with people and have fun and sharpen my skills, that's great. And I know this probably makes me sound weak, but if I got up in the morning and went to training thinking about war, about the possibility of killing again? I couldn't do it. At one point in the past, maybe I could, but I can't anymore. If there's anything this last mission made me realize, it's what a thin line I walk ( ... )

As I said, to each his own Piper. There's a thin line between battle and training that needs to be observed. And if we go into war again I hope that people realize that fact now. If you want to have fun, by all means, go ahead and have fun. But I don't think we should forget what needs to be done if we have more situations.

Vez, I don't think anyone "forgets" what needs to be done, but if training is always such a serious thing, there are people who will lose interest. I think even Gokou would lose interest if he always took training dead serious. But he enjoys himself. I do enjoy training, but I'd be a lot less enthusiastic if I was taking the attitude that all this was is a chance to train so I can kill.

When the emergency happens and I'm needed, I'll be there. I proved it with Froster, we all did, so I don't think we have to justify it. But that doesn't mean we have to dwell on bloodshed all the time.

A mirror of some kind could be used to make him follow the light?

Nah, I don't think that will work. He's pretty determined.

I'm on Gokou's team, I'll make extra sure to keep my eye out for shiny things that might distract him. *g*

You know, I got to hand it to Gokou. He's always trying to come up with new and better ways to make training fun and interesting, while still giving us a workout.

Childish workouts for childish minds. For those of us who are true warriors, training is enough, it doesn't have to be "fun."

Yeah, and you couldn't benifit some from learning to work as a team?

I don't see the harm in that, if you were doing something serious. But frolicing in the snow doesn't strike me as a great way to learn.
