The blood cracked the silence / and I don't take much.

It's so scary: acting. You suddenly become someone else, and for that moment, you lose yourself. You don't exist. And then, when you realize that, for a few seconds or moments, you didn't exist, it can scare you.

With great acting, you cease to exist. You don't analyze; you become your character.

You die.

It is amazing too, you're right. And it can be quite nice. The cynic in me could say that if you are not too happy with your life, just letting it disappear for a moment is rather pleasant.

I just think it's amazing that for some time you can feel things you wouldn't feel as yourself... that's bordering on super powers :P

I hadn't considered that. You don't just lose yourself, you become someone else. A new person, who hasn't existed before. You have to feel feelings to create the character, but then the character fuels those feelings and you do emerge as another person.

Everytime I do that outside of a stage, with no script to restrict me, I do feel scared. Because I'm not there, for that moment. But on the other hand, I'm creating someone else. That's like a super power. Wicked! ;)

I always considered it as a chance of having another life whilst not necessarily loosing the current one. And it can be quite pleasing, too, discovering new aspects and views etc. (Not that I'm a great actor or anything, but I've been doing it for quite a long time.)

You're right: you create new life, as well slightly losing your own for the moment. It's nice too, as well being scary.

I like to know who the hell taught you acting.

Because I was taught different.....way different.

I was always told it was best to just become the character. Not to think "What would Jesus do" but to just take a deep breath, become your character, and then just step forth. Besides some very enthusiastic directors telling what to do, I've had no training at all.

That said, I should add that I am an absolute amateur when it comes to drama. I am very interested to hear your views - how do you do it? :D

Well I was taught th Meisner way. You don't become someone else, the character becomes you. You put who YOU are in the character, your REAL emotions, feelings, thoughts...use your experiences to do what you can to relate. That's real acting.

Ever heard of emotional prep?
