The bad news: Ian's recovery is going to be much slower than we thought. Yesterday all he could do was lie in bed. He will occasionally try to get up but doesn't have the balance. The was some loss of spinal cord fluid that is at least partly responsible for his balance being off. He is taking codine and it very obvious when it wears off. He

i find that surgical recovery is almost always slower and more painful than expected. even for people who know what to expect (like healthcare workers), you just don't know until you've been on the other side. i'm sorry the boy feels puny. my prayers for a speedy recovery are with you...

I'm home from work today with a sore throat and Jago is heading to the doctor in a few minutes to look at an ear infection.
I think our presence (and potential contagions) would do more harm than good. It's possible it's all just allergies, but I doubt we want to take a chance with that.
