i was watching television last night and this preview came on for "Jesus Camp", this documentary coming out soon about tent revivals for kids in varying ages. Memories of childhood and prepubescence came flooding back to me in a way that was both hilarious and horrifying, that i started to cry for some strange reason ( Read more... )

Good for him; I hope he found a more tolerant place to talk. The woman who ran my non-violence resistance training was a trannie who had been a minister in a small bible belt town, and when she figured out what she was, they decided that she wasn't fit to preach. She didn't stop being a minister, just found a better place to do it.

you ARE on my friend's page. i also went to jesus camp and many summers of my life and i'm THRILLED there is a movie about it. i have a feeling, though, it's going to strike so close to home it's damn depressing, and will bring up odd memories i've forgotten in my secular adulthood.

i personally, rotated between mennonite and presbyuterian jesus camps. but we never learned about masturbation. that's a damn shame. at least then the camp would have been good for something.
