Hoo boy. What's the bets on this not ending well?

More info on this can be found here and here, and info for RP journals.

And wow, F_W has gone all out as well. 336 1205 2445 comments and steadily increasing.

D: *double checks interests just in case LJ decides to suspend her journal as well*

Just a heads up to people.

Wtf is up with all this? Some of the communities yeah I can see why they shut down but...I still am not liking this XP...they touch yaoi_daily and a world of hurt is on

*lol icon*

Even though I can see LJ's point in all this (LJ do have to cover their proverbial arses and suspend an account when there has been a big complaint such as this), but geez. I'm especially amazed that it's happening to RP accounts...I mean, for gawds sake they're not even real people (unless it's RPS but I digress...), and yet they're still getting permasuspended, which bites.

And so in agreement with you there, they delete yaoi_daily and there will be hell to pay D:

(Think I need more angry-type icons yes?)

So, *is stupid*

They're deleting accounts based on listed interests that might make them liable?

Yup, that seems to be the long and the short of it, mainly stuff like incest or shota, but supposedly, they're pinging other words like "lolita" as well. Which is silly in itself, but when you factor in EGL, which has the word "lolita" in its name (Elegant Gothic Lolita), that's when it gets crazy.

Frankly, I'm not surprised people are cranky. D:

Jack speaks for me~

LOL. I can see the point to this, and they did, apparently, caught one real phedophile comm, which is good. If they touch any of the yaoi comms like yshare, I'll scream and shout! And it'll be even worst if they deleted that comm and don't delete those hentai comms. DX Calypso will drown them in a giant whirlpool!!! ARRR!

Yeah, maybe their intentions are good (I'm honestly trying to be devils advocate here and attempt to understand), but maybe if they did just even a little research, and just didn't blatantly report communities and journals that even mentioned any of those "interests", it would have been handled, and reacted to, a lot better.

Definitely, it would certainly be double standards alert if they do allow hentai groups to stay and get rifd of our yaoi communities. And I would go all stabbity on them and there would be BLOOD. D

Fuck.

Are individual nonRPG LJs being targeted as well yet?

They think fictional shota and incest is abuse? Why not fictional murder while they're about it? Last I knew murder was illegal too in the US. What utter crap!

Thanks for posting this alert. You're a darling. ♥ May I alert my own flist with your links?

I, too, need some angry icons.

Spread the word around! I know there would be countless number of people possibly affected by all this, and it'd be great to let them know. Though I'm pretty sure most of fandom have already been informed about this, it's pretty much been posted everywhere. XD

I think it's for all journals - communities, personal journals etc. that's what makes it suck so much. D: And god, if they were going to ping journals and get them suspended for having so-called "illegal activities" in their interests, they may as well suspend 3/4 of the LJ public. It's just sheer idiocity. DX

Well I didn't even know about it, but perhaps that is because I have not been very active on LJ lately. xD *huggles* I have made my ranty post.

This crap is crazy! One group reports a bunch of usernames, and they automatically get suspended due to what's in their user interests.

I mean, if you don't have any interests of questionable legality, it shouldn't be an issue. I'm just...seriously weirded out right now.

And surely they could have actually done it in a better way than just doing an interest search and reporting, I heard an actual incest-sufferers support community was wiped from LJ because of this crap. And that, my friends, is just plain nuts. D:

It is an exceedingly weird situation. Hoping that this will blow over soon and not drag out, plus hope the communities/journals that have been affected do get reinstated. LJ owe them that much at least.
