You know, I have seen such special biking shoes, and wondered about that exact problem. But then I thought to myself, "Silly me, if people fell over because they couldn't get their feet loose, no one would wear shoes like that anymore. So they must work just fine."

Apparently I was being overly optimistic. ;)

I'm told it takes some practice. It also may help to loosen the brackets a tad. It also may help to plan ahead a little bit.
