So updates on my end have been scarce, but thats ok, because I have a
huge one for ya, full of excitement and adventure. It all started
I had been planning to go to two amazing concerts that weekend for
about a month. Well, it turns out at the last minute that Logan
decides he is coming to the first one friday night which threw things
out of whack. Originally planning for my mom to take me home and
the Hartsells to drive all of us to the show in DC, we now had to make
new plans as their van would not be big enough to fit all of us.
So we decided to take the metro. This turned out to be a great
idea except that it was raining quite a bit. One of the best
parts of the trip was that our metro stop came out at a Safeway in the
middle of DC. I don't know about you, but I've never actually
seen a grocery store in DC. Lets just say we had a good time
finding ridiculous merchandise in there.
Basically its safe to say the Safeway cereal box art is by far the best I have ever seen.
After a good 15-20 minutes of hanging out in Safeway, Logan's parents
finally showed up to take us to the show. This adventure created
such memorable moments as "Can someone call someone who has internet
access to get us directions to the place?" ~Logan's Mom We
finally found it after seeing a crowd of people outside wearing
checkerboard everything. Basically the first show was
dissapointing. It wasn't the show itself, merely the crowd.
They were completely retarded. The one thing I love about ska
shows is that people actually dance and have a good time instead of
just running themselves head on into other people, or "moshing."
But sadly, the atmosphere was ruined as I was near the front for
Streetlight, but kept constantly getting pushed in every direction, to
the point where I would be standing at a 45 degree angle. So to
enjoy the show I had to move to the side, where I could listen and just
watch the stupid people fall over.
Lineup
- Me Against the Machines
- Some other pretty good ska band
- Whole Wheat Bread (possibly the most amazing performance I have ever
seen) A quote from their site..."People joke about us looking like NWA
but sounding like Green Day"
- The almighty Streelight Manifesto

The next day was spent being sore and spending some time with my
Grandma, who was in town for a few weeks. Then night came and it
was time for the next show. Onwards to Towson!
This show topped the previous easily. The atmosphere was amazing,
everyone was dancing and having fun. It was kind of surprising
though that the Pietasters in my opinion did not put on the best
performance. Yeah it was their music, but the quality didn't come
close to that of the Players, which I found amazing. Close to a
10 person band, they were mostly instrumental and a lot more chill,
almost reggae style.

Overall I'd say it was an amazing weekend, and of course it was nice to
see the family, and also to get some real food. Thats the only
important stuff that happened in that past week, other than the fact
that Logan and I watched Ong Bak the other night and it was simply
astonishing. I've never seen someone use bo's and knees so
effectively in combat. Oh yeah, my computer also tried to commit
suicide, but being the genius I am, I got that situation under
control. Until next time friends, take it easy.
