Daniel and I have been exploring Niagara's wine districts for the last two days. It wasn't enough time to see all the wineries, but there are a whole lot of them, and I'm exhausted after visiting only 10 or 11 ( Read more... )

Another reason why we may retire down that way in a nice large home near wine country.
This will allow me to make my wine and visit wineries. From my days as the Chief Steward for the Wine Judges Commission I used to know a lot of the winemakers and growers. We will be the perfect last stop for friends on a tour!
I used to use Donna Lailey's grapes, before they opened the winery and just sold grapes, although I think the winery may be run by her daughter now. Very nice people. I made a case of icewine for my cousin's wedding from her grapes. And her Seyval blanc was my base for my most decorated award winning sherry. *lol* although I don't know how they'd feel if they knew I deliberately oxidized some of their must :)
