So i decided that the Xandros linux distro that comes with the eee pc's was a pile of crap. I also decided that Windows would be less of a hassle, seeing as i'm a linux noob. I chose... poorly ( Read more... )

a USB Cdrom would have made the process easier. Though i would have still needed to get my hands on a windows CD with SP2 pre-installed because SP1 doesn't have PCI-e drivers installed so it doesn't know how to talk to the SSD. that was a whole other headache.

so, we actually didn't have much of a choice, seeing as we only have a older windows XP cd (legit) and had to slip-stream SP2 into the image we made on the USB drive. It was a learning experience, and now we know better for when Tib get his EEE. Though he'll probably get the EEE-T91 or EEE-T101 that has windows pre-installed, so meh.

and thanks btw.

YAY! thanks for helping make my gizmo work. though it still has an issue with losing the bios that i still need to figure out. But its about 95% stable at this point. I also did like all sorts of optimizations so windows and Firefox run a lot smoother now.

and i have a question, not specifically for Tib, but is the intel atom N270 that goes in the EEE 900A a dual core processor? I can't seem to find documentation online, but the task manager seems to indicate that it's a dual core, which is bad ass.
