You're not stupid at all. I got the same thing but I was lucky enough to get it from some little freshman that I barely know. So I did think it was real, but I didn't bother to click on it because I knew this girl had no pictures of me. Dumb luck.

You're not stupid at all. Virus stuff is just getting more cunning. Bring the laptop to the library notebook counter. It might be far enough into the school year to get help quickly.

i'm trying to decide whether or not my laptop is worth fixing, since it's about 5 or 6 years old or if i should just invest in a new one. do you know if is it expensive to get it checked out at school?

I didn't know your computer was that old. It actually may be worth it to get a new one. I don't think they charge a lot, if anything there at BSC. I think it depends on what needs to be done to the laptop. Best of luck! :)
