If Peanutbutter on Apples is good, why not peanutbutter in applesauce?

I don't know for sure. But I have a theory. =_=

Actually peanut butter and apple butter sandwiches are not bad, and I suspect peanut butter and applesauce might be okay on bread too. As to straight-up peanut butter in applesauce, the phrase I have come up with to describe this is "texture clash".

Definitely a texture thing. But also, consider this. Whole apple slice, while sweet, also have a tart edge which contrasts the flavor of the peanut butter. Meanwhile, apple sauce (boiled apples with TONS of sugar) is overwhelmingly sweet, which when you add the PB only makes it overwhelming to the taste buds.

As, say, might happen if you were to take peanut butter and add honey, like some freaks I know have a habit of doing. >_>

I'm sure I have NO clue what you're referring to..... the ever so decadent mixture of honey and peanut butter...specially slathered on some white bread with strawberry jam....... I mean, I would never make such a mix!......yeah, that's the ticket

Of course you wouldn't, because the heretical combination of anything so impure as jam with PeanutButter and Honey would be nothing short of an affront to nature.
