Summary: She's having a hard time watching the movie.
The girl sat seemingly calm in her seat in the theatre, although she was barely even paying attention to the movie. Her heart was beating a mile a minute. Their elbows often touched as she forgot he was using the armrest in between them, making her flinch and pull away too quickly. She cursed herself for being this predictable woman. Normally she was this loud, over excited and intolerable person in front of her friends.
They weren’t on a formal date though, it was more of a friendly outing together.
Minho stretched his arm out in front of her, gesturing for her to take some popcorn. She wasn’t sure why she smiled, since the theatre was mostly dark except for the first few rows closest to the screen, but she did anyway. She then took a large handful and shoved a majority of it into her mouth, she noted how much better it tasted than the three year overdue popcorn she had at home. A few kernels fell onto her lap, which she quickly brushed off onto the floor.
She looked over at the boy who ate carefully, one kernel at a time. She blushed undetected as he watched the movie contently. Her eyes traveled down his silhouette from the bridge of his nose to his lips. She stopped there to admire them as they parted to let out a low chuckle, although it was drowned out by the rest of the audience. She was distracted and had missed the funny part of the movie.
“What did he say?” She whispered to him, appreciating the short moment she got to lean closer to him.
He looked over, making eye contact as he answered. “He said: your back is so hairy, I love that in a woman.” He smirked at the line once more and returned his attention to the screen.
She laughed lightly and leaned back into her seat, pretending to pay attention to the movie again.
After a few scenes, she turned her gaze back to his shadow. She thought about how clear his skin was, how smooth it would be to touch and caress; but she held back. She thought about how soft and kissable his lips must be; but she fought the urge to test out the theory. She thought about how broad his shoulders were, they were perfect to rest her head on. And his arm was still settled on the armrest, in the perfect position for her to link their arms together. She whipped her head towards the screen just as her arms and neck began to tense, debating with herself whether or not to do it.
Every time she attempted to remotely touch him, she froze, second guessing herself. She kept doing this until the end credits came on. She stared blankly ahead, the lights began to turn on again.
“It- it’s over?” She asked in disbelief. She had missed every opportunity laid out in front of her. There was no God after all, she didn’t regret being an atheist at that moment.
Minho stretched his arms above his head; they had been immobile for two hours, her especially. He looked over at the sad expression on her face, and an idea popped into his mind. He slowly leaned over to her and gave her a small peck on the cheek.
“What’s the matter?” He asked. “Didn’t you like the movie?”
She looked at him, a little bit shocked. But she quickly brightened up. “Actually, I liked it a lot.”
a/n: Written for my friend, ₩ENN¥, who is nothing like this in real life. Cheesy endings FTW.
