Ah, this is simply wonderful! Javert's characterization is pretty much spot-on; he's proud and defiant, but not above a little emotion. Lovely, evocative imagery, too.

The frustrating part of this fic comes from the fact that it was originally meant to focus on Valjean and yet, he still hasn't bothered to show up *pokes him* Stubborn git.
