I firmly believe that all adults who do anything dangerous (like, oh, say, living) should have a medical power of attorney. Something to say, "If I can't make decisions for myself, I want Person X to make them for me."

More importantly? The first thing I see is that it means Grandma trusts you completely, and let there be no doubt, that's not a gift she gives out lightly - no matter her state. While I'm pained for you that this is the place you're in, I'm grateful that your grandmother has someone both intelligent and compassionate enough to truly make the best decisions possible.
More to the point, I'm grateful she has you. I'm grateful we all do.
