Thanks!!! You definitely don’t have to be minimalist or anything to enjoy it either, I had another abalone shell as a soap dish when I was a kid (til I dropped it and it broke). In the past, I’ve also used it as a ring dish in the window, which shines the light upwards in the sun, and it’s very pretty like that. I used to have an air plant in it while it was in the window too, which was beautiful, but for whatever reason, I haven’t had great success with air plants.
They aren’t hard to care for. Most of the ones I have are over a year and a half old. You water them occasionally, and that’s about it. You can tell if it’s too dry because the lower leaves will dry up. You can tell if it’s too wet because the lower leaves will also go bad. I do have organic cactus liquid fertilizer, but I only use it like once or twice a year. Not too much watering because they’re desert plants. I have have much more luck with them than I have with air plants, those always die for me at about a year. I got most of mine from thesucculentsource.com, which has turned out to be a great company, and it comes with a “free e-book” aka instructions manual on how to grow them. I also have way way more of them at work. It’s to the point where people give us plants as gifts because they see how well the plants are doing. I think it gives some calm to a stressful event (going to the dentist).

I would say that in total I probably have about 10 succulents at home and 50 at work.

Oh and lastly, I used to love in a rental house that was full of mold, and it destroyed gifted succulents in about 5 days.
