I love the style of this - sentence fragment use at its best. This comes very very close to my own way of thinking when writing something (hee, I'm doing it right now), and I think that's really the best part of this piece. Too often characters' thoughts are written too simple and linearly, so this is a nice change. Plus, the image of Rodney with the knives was hot (but somewhat sad, too).

I'm so glad you enjoyed it! I had a lot of fun getting into Rodney's head with this one, despite the fact that it broke my heard just a little bit.

I've read this a few times now, trying to figure out what it is that's so right about it. And wallowing, to be honest. I love how I can see Rodney in here, between the lines, all awkward and self aware and heartbreakingly sweet.

This is what gets me every time : And my lab is dark and dreary and I never thought I'd miss the sun. And then, Find joy. Wait. Don't.

It really makes me think. I like that.

Wow. Here from one of korilian's lists, and just ... wow. It took me a second to catch on, but this really works. Poor Rodney! Trying so hard, never knowing how to put feelings into words and then into acceptable words. And the difficulty they're all having adjusting, and their self-identification as refugees ... ow. And wow.

Out of curiosity, can you tell me which of korilian's lists it's on? I only know of three, and I just can't see it fitting on any of them. McKay's not deranged, he didn't have a miserable childhood, and there's no porn at all, let alone improbable porn - hence my confusion.

Erm. Apparently the one I completely hallucinated? That's the problem with opening multiple communities and rec-indexes and stories as tabs. And that's what I get for trying to be good about not bewildering people about where the random comment came from. Sorry for the confusion; I don't actually know how I ended up here!
