dance dress

I have my first (and probably only) Irish step dance competition at the end of the month. I've been practicing a ton (but not enough), sitting out ceili dances on Mondays and instead just doing my steps in the corner. I don't care much about how I do as long as I don't fall on my face, but I'm still surprisingly stressed - the other night I dreamed ( Read more... )

I usually have good luck at Marshall's. You could try there, as long as you're checking out places in person. Otherwise, I would think dance supply stores (like Danskin, Capezio, etc.) might have something. Those could be pretty expensive.

First place I'd go to would be the thrift stores. Dunno if that's available or up your alley.

I am all about the thrifting. I forgot to mention that a few of us want matching dresses (so thrift stores are less useful) but that's not really so important. Maybe I'll check a few places this week.

I don't know that anything like you're describing is currently fashionable- dress lines are really weird this year- which might make it harder to find, but try the usual suspect dept stores for "little black dress"?

A bunch of online sites let you sort by all kinds of characteristics like color and neckline- when I was hunting for my dress I used JCP and Amazon's search. Of course, I also ended up finding it on a clearance rack at Macy's.

TJ Maxx and Marshalls (and Ross if you have it nearby) would be the first places I'd look.
