I am a playlist faggot, hump my rump-
(If you want, comment and I can fish out a song that describes Spy's relationship towards your character. Why yes I am bored.)
I Can't Decide, Scissor Sisters |
Listen/ Download I can't decide whether you should live or die
Oh, you'll probably go to heaven,
please don't hang your head and cry
It's a bitch convincing people to like you
If I stop now call me a quitter
If lies were cats you'd be a litter.
Pretty self-explanatory. This whole song is Spy doing his spy things; slightly crazy, dark, but very fun.
Night on the Sun, Modest Mouse |
Listen/ Download So turn off the light 'cause it's night on the sun
You're hopelessly hopeless
I hope so, for you-
Well there's one thing to know about this town
Not a person doesn't want me underground.
(It's alright, it's alright)
Spy's baaaaaw song. Spy realizes that nobody really likes him, that most people edge on the side of hate when dealing with Spy- and usually, that doesn't bother him. But when you're worn thin sometimes the nagging feeling of "I am nearing 45 and not a damn person would care if I died tomorrow." sort of sticks like a barb and it catches.
When I Was A Little Spy, Gorgol Bordello |
Listen/ Download When I was a little spy
Supernatural and infantile
I learned well how to hide
This song is really rough, Bordello's voice has this tone that reminds me of Spy's childhood- rough, hectic, desperate, uh... European?
Civilization, Danny Kaye and the Andrew Sisters |
Listen/ Download So bongo, bongo, bongo, I don't wanna leave the Congo,
oh no no no no no
Bingo, bangle, bungle, I'm so happy in the jungle,
I refuse to go
Don't want no bright lights, false teeth, doorbells, landlords,
I make it clear
That no matter how they coax him, I'll stay right here
Spy is starting to get used to this whole living on this godforsaken technology lacking island. He likes the people. He likes the simplicity of his spying. He'll stay right here, thank you.
Feetlips, Andrew Bird |
Listen/ Download Feetlips, you’re so brash
Waltzing around talking your trash
No, you haven’t been drinking
You just talk without thinking
It’s what got you this far
But it’s not worth one dollar
Oh Andrew Bird, your voice is like sex. This sounds like something Spy would listen to when he was younger, dark, deep voice and dramatic violins. Spy's a brash dick. He is an irl troll <3
Double Bass, Gorillaz |
Listen/ Download All of which makes me anxious-
At times unbearably so.
Has a sort of 70s espionage James Bondy feel. And then the voice breaks through flat and the music continues. Spy gets paranoid rather easily but he still works through it; pause for a second, have that two second moment of freaking out, then off you go, time to be a spy again, all suave and calm as normal.
I Don't Believe You, Magnetic Fields |
Listen/ Download So you quote love unquote me
Well, stranger things have come to be
But let's agree to disagree
Cause I don't believe you
This is Spy's love song. It's not. He doesn't believe you. "I love you"? Don't you mean, "I want to stab you in the back because I am secretly a spy." or "I am doing this to mock you." or "I want to get your guard down so I can exploit all of your weaknesses"? Yes, yes you do- don't try and pull one over on Spy, silly, he knows you.
Easy Living, Billie Holiday |
Listen/ Download [Insert awesome lazy jazz music for the into right here~]
Living for you is easy living
It's easy to live when you're in love
And I'm so in love
There is nothing in life but you
For you maybe I'm a fool
But it's fun
Billie Holiday has one of the classiest voices, and if Spy ever got genderswapped he would sound exactly like her. I can imagine this as a song Spy sings drunk and never admits to singing.
Balaclava, Arctic Monkeys |
Listen/ Download You knew that it'd be trouble right before the very first kiss
Quiet and assuming but you heard that they were the naughtiest
She pleaded with you to take it off
But you resisted and fought
Sorry sweetheart, I'd much rather keep on the balaclava
Spy's balaclava means everything to him. He hasn't shown another soul his face in 15 years. (Though of course, he takes it off when he's alone. He's recently gotten a new habit in Atia of locking his door, shoving an armchair in front of it, drawing all the blinds, and just letting himself walk around without his mask. It's oddly freeing.) He'd give up his nicotine addiction before he'd ever give up his balaclava.
Butcher Pete (Part 1), Roy Brown |
Listen/ Download Butcher Pete’s got a long sharp knife
He starts choppin’ and don’t know when to stop
All you fellas gotta watch your wives
‘Cause Pete don’t care whose meat he chops
Other than more sexual double entendres then you can shake a stick at, (Chopping women's meat? And then he doesn't care whose meat he chops? Honhonhon~), this is a nice and crazy killing song. Spy might not seem like it, but back home in 2Fort he had a bit of blood lust himself. He does like fighting, he likes stabbing, and he probably mutters this song under his breath while grinning like the crazy bastard he is.
Opposite Day, Andrew Bird |
Listen/ Download But if you think there's something else
Well you're right, there is
There's something else
But if you think I'm gonna tell you, think again
Why should I even think of telling you what there is
Yeah, 'cause silence is knowledge
And knowledge is power
I'm under explicit orders to dare not speak its name
Listen up, I just work here
Oh I dare not speak its name
I can't keep talking about it
Oh, I dare not speak its name
Okay, have to admit, only the last minute of this song actually relates to Spy. But it relates to him so well. Smug, smarmy bastard Spy is, and the way Andrew Bird sort of says this in a singsong voice just fits him.
L'Espirt de Paris, J. Leach |
Listen/ Download Instrumental
THE CLASSIC FRENCH SONG. This is Spy being swanky and suave and FRENCH in a nutshell. I will guarantee you yourself will feel ten times Frencher after listening to this.
