Caerthen 12th Night this year is themed the Teahouse of the Winter Moon. I am very fond of Chinese history, so I elected to be a "Chinese Ambassador" instead of a Japanese belle. Because the Warring States Period one of my favorite times in Chinese History, I'm making a copy of this outfit:
Women who wore this clothing were referred to as fluttering birds.
I have the apron completed, the underrobe (a type of kosode)is nearly done, and the wrapped skirt is finished. I also found the perfect silver silk shoes (embroidered in gold and beaded). I've yet to complete the little white obi looking belt, but should be able to get that finished tomorrow. ACK!! Have to be finished by Saturday morning!
It was a bit difficult to figure out how to cut the curved "tail" borders so they'd lie flat but I was successful! It's lined on the back, and the swallowtail ties green organza ties are each 6 feet long. They are rolled in the picture to protect them from Meimei's claws.
