I just had a day long fight with courier-imap after upgrading it to 4.0. I, for some reason, thought that if the configs were set up correctly then it should work. It, on the other hand, had a different idea. I ended up completely uninstalling the beast and doing a clean reinstall of it. Now it's working again. I don't know what it is about email.
