I was undecided as to whom to vote for before the Forum...and I still am. I'm leaning more toward one candidate now than I was before, but I'm still not sure ( Read more... )

I remember first being taught about sex ed in 7th grade. The two health classes separated the boys from the girls and we each learned about "how our bodies work." Nothing about sex yet, though.

In 8th grade there was another class where we learned a little bit more about STDs and condoms and whatnot, but it was more informal. I think the class was "life managament" or something.

The more sexual education came when I took health freshman year. I remember us memorizing a bunch of STDs and their effects on the body. I thought that was a good way of scaring us. And while she didn't give out condoms, I believe our teacher urged us to have safe sex if we ever did.

In reality, didn't the coach get it right in Mean Girls?

Basically: You're gonna have urges. Don't have sex because you'll get chlamydia. But here are some condoms in case you do have sex.

I don't know why people are against this.

There was supposed to be sex ed in health class, but there was no such unit in my particular section. I mean, we had to fill out the form and get a parent signature to be able to learn about it, and then we....didn't learn about it. Anywho, I totally understand where you're coming from about the being bitter-ness and the not being informed, cuz I'm there too.
