you'll find that they say have such stance because they have to reflect on what the majority of the voters in their areas are thinking. so it "maybe" the case he could be indifferent about teh same sex marriage issues (on a personal level), but if he went against it, he could be thrown out by his own electorate. if you have a mindset set already, doesn't matter what they say whether it makes sense or not, it's just a stance that wont budge unless the electorate tells em to.

you see all the in fighting in liberals about the ETS?

some take extremely strong stances because that's what their electorates are demanding. and stakeholders demand they do certain things.

I have a great dislike for Family First. As in, HATE. Religion in politics masquerading as 'family values' just stinks.

The only people worse are the Citizens Electoral Council of Australia... lol.
