"Things are never so bad they can't be made worse"

I had a phrase moving through my head for a couple weeks, but I never did get around to putting it down.

I'm not sure what prompted it, possibly just a thought that stuck as so many others kept running. It leads so many places in my memories, including the fateful event of Tony Denn picking me up out of my chair to carry me bodily into a circle of girls dancing, and not letting me leave until I joined in with the rythmic cavorting. I was 14 and still pretty sure girls were icky. Out of respect for the muscles of my friend Tony however, I stayed and clumsily danced. I even went so far as to enjoy it. Next thing you know, I was planning the stupid things. Prancing around an empty house with music blaring. Being seen in clubs. It would have been embarrasing if I had cared.
If I had cared. I cared a lot when I was 12. Then an ulcer showed me that stress is not the avenue of least resistance. Don't get me wrong, I still care, but only about things that are important. My friends and my loved ones are at the top of that list. Sometimes I care so much it hurts. Still.
So stress has been high lately due to the repeated attempts of circumstance to defile NWRE. Hopefully the last bullet was dodged yesterday and we can get to the part where we have fun. Last night was dunia cooking a tasty shrimp scampi, some Daily Show (Tivo'd episodes from like 3 weeks ago), milk chocolate macadamia cookies for dessert, and then Final Fantasy X until well past my bed time. An excellent method of decompression that I feel was well warranted. Now I prep for a meeting which may or may not occur this weekend, and we'll see if anything good comes of it.
Dinner tonight is at Queen Sheba on Cap Hill, a fine mix of nigerian and ethiopian food, and highly reccommended by a co-worker. I'm slightly nervous about this meal because my co-worker has contacted the owner and has been told not only to expect us, but to treat us very well. Ah well. No sense worrying about what can't be helped.

Oh, and I heart my new bluetooth headset. While I have some concerns about it's durability, that is offset by the fact that it was free. Yay toys.

- End of Line.
