Every time I think this trip is amazing it gets better.
After my last post we ended up going for lunch and I did have the Sumatran style lunch. If you saw the Indonesian episode of "No Reservations" think about the place that had all the bowls stacked in the window and the camera man broke the bowls. It was fantastic! I had 2 kinds of deep fried fish, tempe (so much better than what you can get in the US), some sort of beef, white rice with coconut milk sauce and water. It cost approximately $3. C wasn't feeling her best as she was a little hung over and the thought of the fish turned her stomach, so we agreed we'd get her food somewhere else. For her we dashed through the rain and stopped back at Made's Warung II and she had some local chicken with Balinese spices grilled to perfection.
While she was eating we could hear gamelan music coming from the street. I poked my head out the dining area and saw that the street had been closed and there was a hindu ceremony taking place. After C was done we made our way out to the street and watched it for a bit. Facinating. It gave us a glimpse at the kind of things we would see next week in Ubud. While on the street a cabby looked at me and asked if we needed a ride. I answered no and he asked if we were still staying @ Puri Cendana. Hee hee, I guess we're quite memorable. ;)
After some time back at the pool & maybe a nap, we headed to Gado Gado for dinner. It's a restaurant on the beach and just a short walk from our hotel. We chose 3 appetisers, scallops, prawns and beef carpaccio. Soooo fantastic. The scallops were amazing. The head waiter came by the table and through chatting we found out that he used to work on the cruise ship that we traved on back in September.
We headed to see "sexy dancers" at Galaxy which is a club just up the street. A couple of nice Aussie gals chatted with us but headed out of the club before the dancing began. These were honestly the first Aussies that actually seemed like they were having a good time. Ok, so we hear it's sexy dancer time. Out come 4 cute gals dressed in kind of red silky bathrobes that are so short they barely cover the black panties they're wearing underneath. The danced around all of us moving very stripper like but not getting naked of course (search Indonesian pornography law if you wanna understand). Then on gal after dancing very close to C comes and basically gives me a lap dance. I really wanted to tip her for her uhh...effort, but there was no available moment.
We hit the gay club from the other night for a drink or two and then headed to Double Six which actually the club name was Bacio. We danced to some great house music and met some Sumatrans who were a lot of fun to hang with. The night becomes rather foggy for me by this point. ;)
Sunday I chilled by the pool for most of the day while C slept because she caught a cold. I made friends with some nice French ladies and they both wanted to talk about how much the French people love Obama. One even had an Obama shirt. :) Lunch was at our hotel restaurant. The staff had been cutting down some limbs off the trees by our room. Apparently the fire ants that lived there were not too pleased and they were all over the path. I got bit a few times and I have to say, OW! But you know it's a good vacation when you get bit by fire ants and you laugh about it right afterwards. Before the sunset we headed for Ku De Ta which is something we had heard we *had* to do. It was an amazing experience. Chill electronic music in the background, sitting outside drinking fantastic coctails while watching the sunset. It was a moment that I wish I could share with everyone. Obviously we took a bunch of pictures. ;)
Weeeeeee!
