I GOT THE JOB (!)
I got a call on Tuesday to say that I have been accepted for the position of "Research Funding Advisor" at Oxford Uni.
I'll be working in the Science Area Team in Central Oxford. (The website is:
here. )
It still hasn't sunk in.
Whoa.
This means 38 days annual leave, a payrise and no more horrendous journeys to and from work!
I feel really excited about the news, but I will miss my team immensely. Over the past 3 years I have made some fantastic friends!
So handing my resignation in yesterday was pretty intense. I made my Team Leader cry :*(
I can't believe how upset the team are about me leaving. There was a sombre atmosphere all day yesterday.
My manager emailed me this:
"Hi Gem
I am so pleased for you & v. sad for us.
We will also miss you, but new & different opportunities do come up & I am very happy that you have found one that is right for you - am assuming based in central Oxford, so no horrendously long journey times in future! Just think you will have a social life again...
This sounds perfect for you! They are very lucky to have you.
Take care & hopefully will see you soon.
Sally"
Another colleague and friend sent me this:
"I am so so so so so so happy for you that you got the job - I know how much happier you will be without that awful journey, but let me say this now that I am going to miss you being here soooooo much as well and the team will be empty without you :(("
I hadn't realised that I had made such a difference.... I feel really touched :)
