26. I know there's a big world out there

I saw Elizabethtown weeks and weeks ago, when it first came out. I think it may have been love at first sight, and I'm not even sure I can pin down why. I love movies. There's a reason I got into the business in the first place, even if I took a more oblique route than many to get here. But it's not always love at first sight. Especially not love ( Read more... )

I think movies like Elizabethtown are hard to market because it's just a nice story. No car chases, no steamy love scenes (unless Cameron Crowe is releasing Elizabethtown Gone Wild: The Directors Cut). I felt the same way about the movie A.I.: Artificial Intelligence. It's one of the most touching films I've ever seen.

As for the music, you have to start with a little Fever Dog and Love Comes and Goes from the Stillwater cd. Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters is another must. Allman Brother's Melissa and some Grand Funk Railroad. That should get you on your way. Hell, maybe I'll join you. Road trip!

I'm not sure if I could handle both of you being gone. Who would I harrass?

That's what cell phones are for. One person drives, the other gets harassed. Besides, it's not really harassment if we enjoy it! *winks*

I'll drink to that.

You both adore me and can't get enough of me.

Elizabethtown changed my life, if only for the dynamic of father and son, and it's one of the only things that I'm willing to get out of bed for at midnight and buy at Wal-Mart, even though I'm not even positive that there's a release date as of yet. Anyway, I agree with Nathan's suggestion about Fever Dog. It's the number one thing I've been listening to, so says iTunes. I'd also suggest Imogen Heap, a little Zepplin, a little Willie Nelson, anything Mellencamp. I know you said driving songs, but I suppose it relies on whether you mean speed-racing or on-the-road-again kind of driving, you know?

February 7. I'll hold you a spot in line.

Mellencamp...good call. I'm definitely feeling a road trip coming on. You in?

I even linked songs for you when the wireless gave out wherever it is I am, wiping out my exhaustive comment. I think it's a sign.

Oh, now that is just not fair. DAMN YOU, UNIVERSE!

Personally, I'll take it as a sign that the net deserves to be beaten, but you transcend even that level of suck. Even if I don't get to see what you were going to recommend.
