It's soooo good to see you again! I'm glad to hear things are getting better and I hope they continue to do so.

I heard about the diva cup many years ago and looked at the website but never tried it. I'll look at it again :)

There's also the Instead disposable cup. It's available in most stores that sell feminine products.

I don't think the Instead holds as much as the Diva, but it's similar in function, and lower cost (at least, initially). Might be good way for the uninitiated to give menstrual cups a test drive before plopping down the dough for the Diva.

Hmm. that's good to know. Maybe I'll try that out while I'm waiting to see if the Mirena will lessen my periods. I'm trying to go green with as much as I can and I hate the monthly necessity of pads and tampons, but have been squicked by the cup idea. Might as well try it and see.

WB, g_knee. We're here when you get the need :)

HAHA - "squicked". Excellent. Yes, me too.

I was completely "squicked" too. But the cup is made of silicone. Its totally sturdy and big enough that you would rarely ever fill it up.

The other really great thing about it being silicone is that it warms to your body. So it completely molds to the inside of your vaginal wall and moves with you as you move. Then when you are ready to remove it, you have complete control of how quickly it comes. It's really so amazingly easy...I was completely surprised by it.

I am not sure about the disposable one. It looks a little less sturdy to me...which would make me nervous.

Another thing that I loved is it didn't fuck with my moisture level "down there". ;)

Let me know if you decide to try it. I would love to hear what you think of it!

I saw this the other day at the store for the first time and I nearly gagged. The concept just disgusts me - I'm sure the reality is different, but it invokes images of a small dixie cup taped to my vagina. I see that they addressed that in the faq, but what can you tell me about the automatic eww response that's convincing? I don't find tampons gross and I never have a problem with leaking really, so it's not like what I'm using is hugely inconvenient for me, although I'm sure everyone sort of gets accustomed to whatever they are doing, but saving waste is appealing (although I only use cardboard).

I'm totally positive it would be gross, yes. And pads are gross. And I'm sure when I first heard about a period I was like, um, gross. heehehe
