I used to assist Rob Halford all the time when I worked at the Sports Authority. stremph April 9 2006, 13:09:56 UTC
For someone who is a supposedly Hellbent for LEATHA', his Halfordness certainly buys a lot of white cotton tube socks. Like, A LOT.

And Heartwork? That was the beginning of the end of Carcass for me. They went from sounding like themselves to sounding like Megadeth*.

*Incidentally, I used to see Dave Mustaine at hockey games all the time, and once I even peed next to him. Mine was bigger.

That is so great. If I caught Rob Halford buying tube socks I'd probably shit myself from laughter.

Dude, Heartwork fuckin' rocks, I don't care. That hurts me that you would compare that to something like Megadeth.

I dug the inclusion of Earth 2 on yours. I've tried breaking that out in the car but most people won't have it. Have you heard their Extracapsular Extraction EP? I almost prefer it to 2.

As a stand-alone work, Heartwork is pretty damned good. But after Necroticism and Tools of the Trade, it kinda comes off as Carcass Lite, with the duelling guitar solos and the snarled vocals being somewhat reminiscent of Megadeth. Either way, it kicks the ass of Swansong. Have you heard Bill Steer's band Firebird? They're decent stoner-rock stuff, nothing phenomenal.

I have not heard Extracapsular Extraction (nor can I type it correctly in under two attempts), but I will check it out. Thrones and Dominions was the last album of theirs I picked up, like 10 years ago.

I really dug Earth's album that came out last year, Hex. Different than they're older stuff, and it sounds a lot like Neil Young's soundtrack to Dead Man, but altogether quite killer.
