And when it gets cold outside and I got nobody to love
Understand what I mean when I say there's no way we're gonna give up
And like a lady who cries in the face of the monster that lives in her dreams

Spinner got home from Paige's house, unable to sleep for the second night in a row. He walked up to his room, his mind reeling as he paced the floor. He grinned to himself. Paige and Him. Again. It was perfect. He loved her so much. Everything started to feel kind of right again. His smile faded as it hit him again. from nowhere, as it often did.

She had a boyfriend. She has a boyfriend. What was he thinking? Part of him just wanted to say screw it. He and Jay weren't exactly friends. And if he was happy and she was happy, who the hell cared what Jay thought?

He sighed and sat down on the edge of his bed. He knew that was the wrong thing to do. And then there was college. He just wasn't good enough for her. She had all these big plans. He didn't want to hold her back. and he knew he wasn't going to be getting into college anytime soon. He ran his hands through his hair. He hated his job, he hated that she was with someone else, and he suddenly felt so trapped. So stuck in the way things were going.

He stood up, looking around the room. He needed something to take his mind off of it. Off of all the pressure. He grabbed his cell phone and called Jimmy. He needed to talk to a friend. Off of the fact that he really just wanted a drink right then. No answer.

He laid down and turned off the lights in his room. He just needed some sleep. It'd all look better in the morning. He laid there in the dark silence for a little while before sitting up.

He walked downstairs to the kitchen, searching around frantically. When he didn't find anything there, he walked to his dad's office, rifling through desk drawers until he finally found what he was looking for. HE stared down at the bottle in his hands and took a deep breath. It wasn't a problem. He wasn't doing anything wrong. He wasn't even going to get drunk. He was just going to have a little. He pressed the bottle to his lips, sighing, feeling relieved.

Just a little. To get to sleep. To relax enough to go to sleep.

He finished off the bottle and stared down at it, feeling a little guilty as he wiped his mouth. It wasn't a big deal right?

The lights went on in the hallway, he looked up just in time to see two familiar figures darken the doorway. "Gavin..." His father's voice began.
