With all the talk about ailing cars, new cars, car images, street cred.. I should take a moment to give a little airtime to my esteemed rental car. I love cars, and any and all cars are points of interest.

A friend was in a minor accident recently and she too has a rental. Here's an excerpt from a recent exchange:

I've had the cruel "privilege" of driving a Liberty on 3 separate occasions for a week or so & I couldn't stand it! It drives like a box on wheels. I also drove a Nissan Murano & although it still sucked to drive, it sucked a bit less than the Liberty.

I'm telling you, I'm so spoiled with AWD & traction control from my car that I can't even begin to explain the difference! If you really decide you want an SUV type thing, I'd urge you to check out Subaru's offerings.

Oh no, I didn't mean to suggest that I'd ever be owning one of these things. :) It's more along the lines of.. "my favorite color is blue, but I can see how people like the color yellow."

For it's strengths, the liberty and SUV's in general are a crude form of automotive transporation; unrefined and ill suited to my mode of driving. Plus, I have yet to fill up the tank, which I imagine will sting worse than the weekly rental cost.

WHEW! OK, thanks for clarifying. I was thinking to myself ~ g_the_curious always seemed like an intelligent forward-thinking kind of guy ... what happened!? Haa. I'm glad to see you're not losing it. ;)
