21th Century boys in BL's view point in Japan?

Apr 28, 2010 09:32

"21th century boys" is an article from a free paper called "Metropolis" distributed in Tokyo area. One of my boy! friends, who enjoy learning English like me, kindly informed me about this article. Of course, he has nothing to do with BL, but he said I was the first to come in his mind when he found this article...
You know, BL related things are ( Read more... )

bl actually points to this emerging and very prominent gender revolution which i think is unique to japan. it's very interesting, i'd like to take it up in my studies, should i ever find myself in japan in the future :)

i'm just curious, where does the fear of homoeroticism in japan come from? wasn't it tolerated during japan's feudal days?

btw, i LOVE nakamura asumiko ♥

at first too i didn't like nakamura asumiko's art much, i found it weird. but it has its own charms and now i find it really adorable and pretty! and she can certainly tell a story. i especially love doukyuusei and sotsugyousei - have you read them?

Yes, I've read both of those stories and I loved them! But it was BL manga kissa(cafe) where I read them, so I don't remember well in details, sigh..., I've got to read them carefully again. There are quite many BL manga newly published in Japan, but I don't have either time or money for all of them, so I go to BL manga Kissa and read many of them at one time. Wish I could go there with you ^^;

Hi killmelover-san,
Are you planning to come to Japan? If you're a BL fan, then there would be no ending for your buy list while you're in Japan. Do you know Otome road at Ikebukuro. You must go there since there are some BL stores crowded in a small area.
Nice day!

I just wander around and found your LJ
thank you for the link to the article, it's fun to know more about bl mangaka's fav type
as a bl fan myself, I actually don't like to talk about this topic with someone who don't actually read bl, simply because it will take a lot of effort to explain to them
btw I'm interested in your cd translation, do you mind if I add you?

Hi, your icon of Onigiri looks so cute, like a peach^^
Oh I don't mind at all if you put me in your friends list, please go ahead. My CD translation is quite slow as a snail, but I hope it could help you in some ways...

I know it's not easy to explain why many females are eager to read BL stories. Some, who're not familiar with BL. say they are only porn and others romance stories, but bother of them are not correct. For me, BL is more like genuine pure love or friendship stories.
I wonder you like Itoshii Koto which I'm translating now. It's one of the best stories which are full of anguish but little romance^^;... Thank you!

thank you, already added :D
your translation does help me alot indeed. since I just begin to learn japanese, it's almost impossible to understand novels or cds without translation
the original novel have two parts, so I guess utsukushii koto is part 1 and itoshii koto is part 2?

Yes, there are two volumes for this novel, and also a booklet story "Aisuru Koto," which are not commercial.
I'm now struggling to translate the Aisuru Koto. It's a terribly sweet story, so I'd love to share it with as many fans possible even with my poor translation.
I'm quite interested in learning languages, so if there is anything I could help you about your language learning, I'm really happy to do so. ^^
