Report: Stage of Utsukushii Koto

Let me take a rest this weekend for the translation of the last track of Itoshii Koto. Instead, I'm going to write a short report of the stage of Utsukushiikoto.

There was an accident just several days before the opening day of the stage, that the main actor who are supposed to act Matsuoka went down with some health issues and Yonamine Kenta

Damn, I wish I could see the stage version! I would love to see the DVD, but that'll be impossible.

But yeah, the whole copyright issue is spreading everywhere. Well, I know the U.S. and Japan are in it together, but I don't know about the rest of the world. Getting arrested sounds really extreme even for a middle schooler.

At least the idea of BL on stage seems like a first step to progress, right?

Before I went to watch the stage, I was almost sure that I'll be disappointed with the stage. It's just impossible to imagine a man disguised as a woman looks natural and pretty. But the actor who played Matsuoka was so cute^^. His hight is 171 cm, but he weight only 52 kg!

I got a request from someone overseas to buy the DVD, so I'm wondering if you could watch the DVD someday...

Thank you so much for this post ♥ I just posted about this a couple of days ago and yes, I was so sad to hear that about the actor who was supposed to act the part of Matsuoka wasn't able to because of medical reasons. T__T I went to the website once in a while to look at his picture, and always thought he really suited the role of Matsuoka so well. So sad...

But I was also quite happy to see the new lead actor, and yesss! I agree. From when I first saw his picture I also thought he is so stunning. I'm glad to read from your report that he met your expectations. I am so happy for him and the whole cast.

I want to IM you on more about this, because I have another selfish request to make ^///^ (So sorry for the trouble...)

Since I was really impressed with the guts of the lead actor, Yonamine Keita, who decided to act this difficult role in such a short period of practice time, I checked his work history and I started to understand why his pictures are not at all! inserted in the pamphlet. This role was not supposed to be acted properly by an inexperienced relatively new actors. He has not acted any popular roles up to now, so this must have been once in a million year chance for him. I just hope he will be able to get more promising roles from now on having done this difficult role.

BTW, I haven't got time to check your translation yet... need to check skype^^;

I hope so too... ^__^ I am so happy for him, because he got such a beautiful role for a debut if it's his first time being the lead actor in a production like this ♥

I pray that someday, I will have the privilege to watch him perform live, and that goes for the other actor Takasaki Shota too~!

I had no idea there was a stage production of this story ! I'm kinda impressed that it would even be possible in Japan ! I wonder if this has ever been done for any other BL story (manga, or novel) before ? Anyway, I think I'll buy the DVD when it's out, and I hope I have the chance to maybe see it on stage when I'm in Japan. Would you happen to know if this production will go on for some time ? I'll be in Japan coming september, so....

Hi, sad to say, I don't think this stage will be conducted again in the near future. it was only 5? 6 day performance at a small theater. Also about DVD, I asked the office which makes a DVD if they are intended to sell it at stories, and they said nothing is settled about distribution. So it could be difficult to buy the DVD in September, I'm afraid. Anyway, I'll make an entry about the DVD once I grab it and write how you can buy it then. I'm wondering if I can show the DVD by skype or something without breaking a law＾＾；
It's good for you to come to Japan, but it must be very expensive to buy air ticket in September... ^^

Thank you for your kind answer. :) I'm going to be in Tokyo for at least one year, so I hope the DVD will be out during this period. And if not, well there's always yesasia or other wesites that I can order it from. :) But bying it in Japan would a lot cheaper. I always buy stuff in Ikebukuro, where I used to live 2 years ago.
It'd be really great if the stage performance could happen again, or maybe some other Konohara Narise work maybe, as I love all those I've read (my favorite being 'Now Here'. It's heartbreaking and beautiful ! I would love for her to write a sequel or a short epilogue...). It's just really nice to know that stage performances about BL works are starting to happen. :) I wish there were more movies too (good ones !).

First of all thank you very much for your report on the stage Utsukushii. The moment I read your old entry about it, I have been curious about it and how it would turn out. So I´m really grateful that you have taken your time to share with us *_*
I´m sorry for what happened to the first choice lead but looks like it didn´t affect too much to the result and that the story can be enjoyed despite some tech probs you may have noticied. All in all seems to be great and I find it really interesting. Wonder how this kind of works would be welcomed in other places. Do you know if they plan on more bl stage plays?

You know, BL is very controversial material for some people who don't want to go peacefully with Gay people, so I don't think this kind of stages are performed again soon.
Oh, you're really curious about the DVD ^^. I guess once the DVD comes out, there will be somebody to upload it on YouTube or something. But if there won't be anything appears, then I'm sure to find a way to let you enjoy it.
One idea is skype. Do you have a connection to skype, by any chance?
