Honestly. I can't give up a pet once I have them. If i know they are suffering I can put them to sleep but if there is a good chance of recovery I am going to take it despite the cost. So I would bring her to the vet despite the bill and the lack of work.
If she does not make it I would say then return her and say WTF a week?
...meaning I suppose I was a bit irresponsible getting Ebbie. You don't have to agree or disagree, I suppose it's my own sentiment upon reflection of these events.
I'm lucky that she's eating, drinking and grooming. Means she has plenty of time left and the meds I got her today will likely work. But dammit...argh.
Even if you are monetarily irresponsible for purchasing a pet when unemployed, it is all about being a good pet owner in the end. You will recover from the missing money or lack of employment. Pets only continue if we (pet owners) are good about taking care of them. You have shown that you want/are a good pet owner despite your money challenges.
I adopted my dog from the animal shelter and found out she is positive for heartworm. There's no way I would want another dog. I have had her on a herbal heartworm treatment for a year and a half. The vet says the worms are still there. When he tested her again he said, "these just don't go away they keep growing".
I think maybe they have gone away but his medical training wouldn't let him believe it. When you purchased your rat you made her part of your family. She is special and they will just put her to sleep if you take her back.
