SUPER STUCK UP, ANTI-MTV RANT

Sep 06, 2011 19:12

This afternoon I saw the 2011 VMAs. It was as all MTV products are: contrived and exasperatingly vapid. I don't know why MTV does this to all their shows. The absence of actual music aside (I believe that attempting to bring back music videos is an overwrought cause that has already been lost), the criticism of their current programming is ( Read more... )

I haven't seen the VMAS yet but I've seen a couple of shows of Parental Control. In some of the episodes that I've seen, the parents pick out pretty decent guys but other than that, I don't see why the girl dated the idiot sitting next to her parents in the first place. I wouldn't let my parents pick out my dates for me, I think. My prom date was sort of picked for me (I had no one else to go with) and I didn't have as much fun that night. But I got to pick my ball date and we had a ball.

The difference is you aren't a btch! =)))

I picked my prom date because my dad used to be like the prom date of girls who needed their parents to pick for them. So I think he wanted me to get off my arse and find a date.

I do have to add that despite what I said above, the VMAs were still entertaining. Being vapid and contrived does not necessarily mean boring (contrived does sometimes though).

I don't want MTV or TV in general, but based on the kinds of shows I hear that it shows, really, what do they want to say? Teen cribs was MTV, right (if not, I apologize. I'm so clueless)? Well, I understand the parents for trying to see the best in their child and defend him/her - all parents do. Sadly, some are so blinded that they fail to see that there's something wrong with their child already.

Also, I really despise PDA. I really don't like the clingy, flirty, ohhh-stop-ittt kind of display of affection. It irritates me. It's so annoying when people are so physical to the point that it looks like they want to eat each other up. What I find adorable are the couples who are married (old couples, especially!) or if not, who really do love each other. I don't know why, but you can tell quite often. Most of the time, the simplest gestures mean the most.

OMG TEEN CRIBS. EFF THAT SHOW. EFF THAT FRICKEN SHOW.

And PDA is so uncomfortable. I mean when you are in the actual presence of the stuff, you immediately feel this intrusion on something that you feel is private, despite its publicness. And old couples really are amazing! Especially in like 40 years from now, after all this influx of divorce, it'll be the freshest breath of air to see couples like that.
