Meet Daytona. This little guy was a stray. He's heartworm positive. He's coming to stay at my house while he gets treated for the heartworms. I met him last Saturday, he's soooo awesome!
There's a blog I started following from someone I met on Twitter; it's called His Boys Can Swim, and the mom-to-be actually talked about this in a recent post. She focused on how people whose pets suddenly become a burden when they find out they're expecting shouldn't be allowed to adopt a pet in the first place. So true. It's a great, sweet blog if you ever feel like reading it.
Thank heavens for kindhearted folks like you and Aaron. May your love for these animals multiply 1,000-fold.
Yeah. The folks at the shelter typically ask questions to ferret out those people - like "for what reason would you give up your pet".
However, a lot of the animals in the shelter come from backyard litters or are "bought" from a breeder who doesn't really care what happens to those animals after they get their cash.
So annoying. If we don't protect the weakest and most helpless in our society (animals and children) - what kind of civilization are we?
Anyway, thanks for the blog link, I'll check it out.
