...but just for memes. this one from quigonejinn.

If I made Cinderella, the audience would immediately be looking for a body in the coach.
- Alfred Hitchcock

When I write a story, what do you immediately look for?

Basically, Extremis.

Which is to say, complete motherfucking genius. Seriously. When I read your stuff for the first six times or so, I'm like AHHHH THIS IS THE GREATEST THING EVER OH HOLY FUCK. And then the seventh time, when I go back and try to figure out how you do it, I just end up throwing my hands up in the air and being like, HER BRAIN, HER REALLY ENORMOUS BRAIN I DON'T KNOW HOW SHE DOES IT.

That isn't exaggeration. Basically, what I'm trying to say is that when I read your stuff, I get this incredible feeling that there is a HUGE GIANT BRAIN on the other side of the screen, and it's honestly kind of awe-inspiring.

True story: every time you met me, it's been an illusion. My true form is MODOK.

But for real YOUUUU. <333 I feel a bit bad now for throwing out "clones" to you, because what I really value about having you (and the rest of Hive and much of fandom in general) around to write with and bounce things off of and observe and talk to and just...interrogate the process with, is that we have this amazing opportunity to study (steal from) each other's styles and tricks and strengths. I would absolutely not at all be the writer I am today without the benefit of knowing you and your writing. Your use of cadence within sentences and then reflected in the full text as a whole just BLOWS MY MIND, and it's something I think about all the time when I'm writing. The way you peel back an idea a glimpse at a time to hold tension or illuminate different aspects or reactions. The way you let quiet moments breathe, but not be still. UNF. My giant brain pulses to the rhythm of your prose.

The unexpected. A hauntingly beautiful turn of phrase. A sense of something Other waiting in the shadows/the wind/the forest. An ending or twist I didn't see coming in a million years. And most recently: deer.

Your stories always blow me off my feet in the best possible way <3
