The misuse of a text.

Having read George Orwell's 1984 comparitively recently, and having re-read it over the course of last week, something struck me. The society in 1984 is an oppressive one; it limits the freedoms of the citizens, and even seeks to control how they think. Eh, the extreme far right and extreme far left turn out pretty much the same in the end.

That's very true, although they do point fingers at each other anyway and accuse the other side of endorsing practises that must automatically lead to a totalitarian state.

(And contrary to my above post, I do believe Socialism can be done without a totalitarian state, however I also believe it will be harder to run.)
