I'm really bad at long range friendships, really really bad, mostly cause I see nothing wrong with not speaking for 3+ years. THat said I will try and make a stab at keeping in touch with people this time and this seems sort of like the ideal way. I'll try at least

yup, we've both sent out a bunch of resumes and now is just the fun sitting and waiting while they decide on our worthiness. And sending out more for when they decide we aren't
