Damn, that looks intense! I felt like the villains in the first two movies weren't very impressive/memorable.

That's true. Iron Man 2 was just setting up Tony's role in The Avengers. I liked the first one a lot, but the villain was pretty normal. I think they had to step up their game after The Avengers.
