Firstly I'd like to offer a note of congratulations to Barack Obama for winning the support of the majority of people in this great nation of ours, broken though she may be. You spoke to an entire generation, an entire new group of people who had never considered the power in their hands, the power in their minds to make a difference, much as Bill ( Read more... )

I don't agree with his socialist ideal of "sharing the wealth" but i DO believe that since only 5% of Americans have 95% of our wealth, maybe they SHOULD actually PAY taxes instead of just hiding their money.

Then tell me that 5% of the country has 95% of the wealth.

It's a commonly accepted fact by economists that the richest 5% of americans control 95% of the wealth of this country. Where that fact gets misconcieved is that it's assumed they recieve 95% of the INCOME.
People like those characterized in this article get screwed, plain and simple, by tax plans like that of Bush, and probably that of Obama as well, that target their richer, old-money counterparts, but fall short, because those "old money" people have the legal loopholes to hide their cash.
Nevermind the 9 banks under investigation right now for using the federal buyout money from LAST time to pay BONUSES TO THEIR EXECUTIVES!!!!!
Those are the sort of People I wish to "punish" for being rich, because they don't do a damn thing to earn anything, people like Paris Hilton or Teresa Hines-Kerry...
they should pay their shares, plain and simple, but they don't.
Any arguments?
