It's been a relatively quiet afternoon. He's spent it either reading or working on the first draft of the speech he plans to give at the next press conference.

It's been just long enough, in the scheme of things, to perhaps cause Gabriel to wonder whether Crowley'd gotten the invitation at all - or whether he planned to respond. Considering.

But Crowley's a busy man (as it were). There are a hundred and one things that need doing at any given time by the CEO of Bentley Aeronautics, and more still as an agent of another, ahem, organisation entirely. (And, what with one thing and another, if Crowley's only just managing to get around to the things he can't delegate, well, that's no business of Gabriel's.)

He can't just -

Senator Tam specified the visit should be at Crowley's convenience, and at Crowley's convenience it'll damn well be.

There's a figure in a black overcoat and sunglasses leaning in the doorway to the study. There's no way to tell how long he's been there.

It takes him a moment or two to notice, and when he does he doesn't quite startle in surprise.

"Nĭ hăo," he echoes stiffly, quite at odds with his pose of studied unconcern. "Am I intruding?"
