Okay, guys. I've decided that I get to decide who officially counts as a Spuffy shipper. Why me? Well, I think I'm eminently qualified in that I have no Spuffy icons, therefore I'm clearly not biased in the least. Also, I had a dream about naked!Spike once, and that's clearly a sign that I'm the chosen one

Spike had been a most solicitous mate, ruffling Buffy's feathers just so as he prodded her gently with his beak. There'd even been a display of shimmering green light above them, which Spike tried to take the credit for until she squawked her amusement at him and he waddled off, offended.

He came back later, though.

Maybe, after two mates who abandoned her and egg both, and a third with whom she apparently just wasn't fertile, Spike was the one she could raise a chick with. Maybe this was it.

But it was laying season now and Buffy still hadn't produced their egg. Even worse (and it shouldn't have been worse, because it was all about the egg, the egg and not the transitory mating necessary to produce it), these last few days Spike didn't want to eat or even move very much. He didn't even know why

Oh wonderful! I've lost count of how many AUs this is, but it's a beautiful, emotional one. Bless PenguinBuffy and PenguinSpike, and all their little eggs, who ever gestates them.

(And don't we all benefit from learning about penguin reproduction in a wiki-hurry?)

As the housemate pointed out, I could say that everything I learned about penguins, I learned because of fandom! (Well, and this, which I watched over and over.)
