Episode Poll: 5.15 I Was Made to Love You

Apr 24, 2012 06:59

Heads up. LJ's been doing this thing the past month or so where it won't email me comment notifications for top-level comments on poll posts. That means that, usually, after the first day or so of posting the poll, I'm not likely to see your comment cause it requires me remembering to go in and check manually. *cringe ( Read more... )

1- She's only 20. With her responsabilities things are more difficult, but she's still very young.

2- "A bit of both". I believe that Ben was really attracted to Buffy, but I also feel it's a personal revenge against Glory, trying to built a relationship with the hellgod's mortal enemy. Ben always try to ignore Glory and go on with his own life.

3- Nah, not Oz's thing.

4- Not so sure. I mean, Giles did some heavy stuff in his past and we know a little about his sexual preferences or his deep wishes.

5- Warren's a big jerk. I was pretty sympathetic towards April, personally.

6- Bit of both. I don't believe Spike likes his solitude.

7- I gave 5 stars. It's a cute episode.

1. Very true.

2. Indeed. I...I kinda like Ben a lot in this episode. Shame that he ends up being a weak-willed loser. :/

5. Me too!

6. Yep. Without the Scoobies, he doesn't really have anybody. I mean, does he even know Clem at this point?

6. Well, he had Harmony up until last episode. But he really burned all his bridges in "Crush". I don't think we ever find out when he meets Clem, but Clem doesn't appear until Season 6.

5. Well, I think everyone is/can be sympathetic, even if they're bad guys.

Ah, yes! There's the famous Christopher Walken response, when he was asked if he preferred playing good guys or bad guys...

"Ain't no difference, everyone thinks they're a hero."

5. They can be. :)

It's odd. You know I think Warren's a great character. I don't really sympathize with him, though. Especially not here where we know so little about him. Dude creates a walking and talking fleshlight, fine, but he also programs her to love him and feel physical pain if she doesn't respond to him. That's...kinda skeezy.

I dunno. I can't say I find him too sympathetic. I still like him as a character. I think he's hella realistic. There are a bunch of people in RL that I don't sympathize with at all. But, yeah, he gets my raised eyebrow of general disapproval, even here.

1. The reason Buffy has never been able to find a meaningful relationship is that Angel finished breaking her in half along the seam that her father's abandonment created and she has never gotten over it. As a slayer, against physical danger she's courageous. But when risking her heart, she's a big old stinky coward because deep down she's convinced that men always leave.

2. I think Ben likes her

3. Not Oz's thing.

4. Not Giles' thing wither.

5. Season 5 Warren is actually sympathetic, he learns a valuable lesson and everything. But then he blows all that personal growth in season 6 and becomes sleazy.

6. Bit of both

7. 3 stars. Good episode, but pales in comparison to some of the other series episodes.

1-I don't think Buffy's first two relationships were hideously awful. They ended badly, and there were problems in both of them, but the idea that a relationship was bad because it didn't end well or had some problems doesn't jibe with my experience. And, of course, Buffy is young and isn't necessarily going to meet THE ONE in the approximately 7-10 years she has been able to reproduce.

5-a bit of both. I mean, the single guy sex toys available are often not appealing to dudes, so the idea of making one that is appealing makes sense if you have the know-how. However, she is not just a sex toy and it is wicked creepy to make a robot designed solely to fuck and worship you. The reasons Warren is alone probably stem from the same place where the idea to make April stem from--he's a creepy dude with fewer moral qualms than most people. He probably fell into the "nice guy" trope growing up.

I had a lot of not sures in this poll. I am sure about the bit of both answer for Spike. How bad I feel for Spike in this episode is only outweighed by how bad I feel for April. Especially the ending. I have never loved Buffy more than when she sits and comforts the dying robot. So much compassison.

Did Ben know that Buffy was the slayer at this point? I don't remember.

Yes! I love that scene. That scene pushed this episode into the 4 star range.

Yeah, I wondered that, too. Even if he did, I'm not sure how it would help him to get close to her, though? He doesn't want to help Glory at this point, and there doesn't seem to be anything Buffy could do to help Ben out with his body-sharing issue.
