Summary: the first snow of the season
The Sky is Falling pt.2
Yu walked down the hall in the direction that Eneru had disappeared. He peeked in each room as he passed. Finally he spied Eneru’s body sticking out from under the bed.
”Ene-tan,” Yu said and touched Eneru’s tail lightly.
Eneru jumped in fright and bonked his head on the bed frame. He turned around so that just his face now stuck out from under the bed. ”How did you find me? Quick! Come under the bed. The sky is falling!”
Yu slid under the bed. He started to wash the top of Eneru’s head in an effort to calm the shaking puppy. ”Ene, just because you can’t see anyone doesn’t mean we can’t see you; especially if you’re butt’s still sticking out from under the bed.”
”Oh,” Eneru said. He licked his nose nervously.
”Besides,” Yu continued, ”the sky’s not falling, it’s just snowing. Don’t you remember playing in the snow last year?”
”But that was in the mountains, and it was on the ground.”
Yu nipped playfully at Eneru’s paw. ”Ene, first snow falls from the sky, then it piles up on the ground so you can run around and play in it.”
”But that’s the mountain house. This is the city. It doesn’t snow in the city.”
”Sure it does. It just doesn’t usually last that long.”
”Are you sure it’s just snow? The sky’s not really falling? I think I need to go find Dad,” Eneru looked around, not too sure that he believed Yu’s explanation.
”I’m sure, Ene-tan. Kamui was just teasing. But if it’ll make you feel better we’ll go find your dad.”
Yu followed the puppy down the hall to the living room where Ju-ken and Chacha were sitting on the couch, feet propped up on the coffee table, and Ju-ken’s arm wrapped around Chacha’s shoulders, watching the unexpectedly early snowfall.
Eneru tried to jump onto Ju-ken’s lap but couldn’t quite make it up onto the couch, so sat whimpering and pawing at Ju-ken’s leg.
“Hey, buddy,” Ju-ken greeted the little dog. He picked him up and held him on his lap as he scritched between Eneru’s ears. “How’d you like the snow, huh?”
Yu leaped gracefully into Chacha’s lap, purring as Chacha stroked his soft gray fur. He reached out and batted Eneru’s ear,”Feel better now?”
”Yeah, Dad says it’s just snow, too, so I guess you were right. Kamui’s just mean sometimes.” Eneru laid his head down on his paws and sighed in happiness.
Yu closed his eyes and purred. ”He’s not really mean. He just likes to play pranks. We’ll just have to find some way to pay him back for scaring you.”
Eneru picked his head up and nudged Yu with his nose. ”But what can we do?”
”I don’t know yet, but we’ll think of something.” Yu continued to purr.
”Yay!” Eneru yipped happily.

Yu closed his eyes and purred. ”He’s not really mean. He just likes to play pranks. We’ll just have to find some way to pay him back for scaring you.”
Eneru picked his head up and nudged Yu with his nose. ”But what can we do?”
”I don’t know yet, but we’ll think of something.” Yu continued to purr.
”Yay!” Eneru yipped happily.
