Tell me about it. When the officer in Ashkelon said that I had to go to Tel Hashomer to get it all sorted out, I knew that there was one place in the country that I DIDN'T want to visit. I almost asked my cousin to stop at the US consolate. I should have at least done this, but I don't know what they would or could do for me.

Heh... this story only gets better. Look for a post from Gad soon about him trying to LEAVE the country. I'm amazed I saw him at the airport yesterday.

I can relate. I have to go to the consulate and get a special form every time I visit, for the same reason. Basically, it's a 90 day tourist visa, even though I'm a citizen.

Israel needs to think this through .... these kinds of policies are not a very good way to engender good feelings towards you as a country.

They need someone stationed at the airport with the authority (and sensibility) to look at people like you or me and say, "These aren't the droids we're looking for." :-)

SarahKaz... I also got food poisoning in Vegas! Cool.

The culprit in my case was bad salmon at a wedding. Was sick all night and had to fly back to Toronto the next day. That was one of the worst days of my life.
